With Mirage, Ubisoft returns to the basics of the series, where the story plays an important role and you don’t have an open world. The story takes place in Baghdad, in the year 861. This makes it a prequel to Valhalla, which takes place 20 years later. In Valhalla, you encounter two members of the Assassin’s Guild in England who hail from the Middle East. You play one of these assassins in Mirage, in his early years. In doing so, he changes from a street urchin into an assassin.
The game itself now puts more emphasis on stealth, where the gameplay mainly consists of finding your target unseen, taking it out and disappearing again, without being noticed. The detection system has been improved for this, so that it is clearer which enemy is targeting you and how far they are from you.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest addition to the popular game franchise, and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. The plot is the same we’re all used to: it’s set in the beautiful and mysterious city of Marrakesh, where you play as an assassin on a mission to uncover a deadly conspiracy. The gameplay looks awesome, with intense parkour moves and challenging combat sequences that will leave you breathless. Plus, the graphics are top-notch, bringing the vibrant colors and intricate details of Marrakesh to life. I’ve already pre-purchased the game here on Allkeyshop, so all that’s left to do is wait for it to release!
Assassin’s Creed is the best RPG series, and the upcoming Mirage will mark its 15th anniversary. This installment will be shorter than the previous ones, and it will take about 20 hours to complete the campaign. While the graphics are beautiful, I doubt this game will bring anything new to the franchise.
Ubsioft is going through a difficult time, and this brings uncertainty to their project. Conceived as an extension of Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released as an independent game. Is this a good marketing solution? We’ll know soon enough.
From a gameplay perspective, Mirage will stick to an old-school stealth approach with silent assassinations. I think this is a wise decision, as most of the long time fans enjoyed the classic games for their strong focus on parkour and sneaking.
Hopefully, the upcoming title will refresh the AC franchise and bring us more hours of fun gaming.
