Reviews
It’s a pleasure to pick through the world, to discover new sights, and to pick through the perks and customisation option to conceive the perfect character build, however bizarre.
PC Gamer
Its combat is the best Bethesda have ever produced: involving, kinetic, and exciting.
PCGamesN
It’s insanely ambitious and utterly absorbing, a game that has clearly had thousands of hours poured into every detail of its compelling world.

I played and platinumed it in a few weeks
It was a really good game from story to mechanics
Fallout 4 is the sequel to the award winning Fallout 3, the first mainline Fallout under Bethesda’s and right after the unanimously beloved and critically acclaimed New Vegas.
Released 7 years after Fallout 3 and funnily enough taking place 10 years after the main event in that game, in Fallout 4 we’ll be initially set on October 23, 2077 the day the nuclear bombs fell. So we’re soon allowed to the nearby Vault 111, a Vault designed to ibernate its resident, and there after witnessing the kidnapping of our son Shaun and the death of our significant other during the cryostasis state by unknown men, we’ll find ourselves as the only survivor (thus the Sole Survivor) of Vault 111 after a problem with the within the vault reawaken us and allow to live the place.
Here it will start our journey in the Commonwealth, the former state of Massachussets with the objective to find our son and exact vengeance on murder of our s.o.
Fallout 4 is a really hard game to analyze as a fan of the series. If on one hand it improves drastically the gameplay and especially the gunplay with customizations, new perks to combine, legendary item drops and more. On the other it also simplify the RPG elements so much that it’s not uncommon to refer it as “Skyrim with guns”, because the core mechanics are the same.
Unlimited level caps and thus being able to eventually unlock all the perks, as opposed to plan them earlier and a strong focus on the sandbox experience with some section, pretty much mandatory, of crafting and even some sim-management parts with settlements (ugh Preston Garvey).
Story wise it’s not that better than Fallout 3, which if that game started with “find Dad” this one instead is “find Shaun/your son”. Moreover how the 4 factions (more like 3 with how Minuteman is neutral) is an attempt at copying the core conflict of Fallout New Vegas failing badly in doing so with also the final conflict resembling partially the fight at Hoover Dam.
The strong point of Fallout 4 is the graphics being definitely prettier, a voiced main character albeit at the cost of highly dumbed down choices in dialogues, a vast map to explore actually full of nods and interesting stuff, some good quest unbalanced by an awful main quest full of plot holes and very questionable decisions. Tons of new enemies, this time around somewhat challenging and essentially fun to engage, especially cleaning up enemy camps and enemies having access to power armors, although now it’s a mainframe instead of an actual armor (needing training to be weared in previous games).
The biggest upside of Fallout 4 is there’s a lot of stuff to do and the sandbox experience is pretty engaging overall, not to mention the exploration is really big with very interesting and lore rich places to visit. The game is also extremely cheap, especially the base game for what it should offer several dozens of ours just to beat it, while offering hundreds of hours for those who want the explore every nook and cranny.
Fallout 4 is an immersive post-apocalyptic RPG that takes players on a thrilling journey through a devastated and dangerous wasteland. With its vast open-world setting and rich storytelling, the game offers countless hours of exploration and adventure. Players can create their own unique character, make meaningful choices, and engage in intense combat with a variety of weapons and abilities. The game’s intricate crafting system allows for the customization of weapons, armor, and settlements, providing a sense of ownership and personalization. The deep and engaging storyline, combined with the immersive atmosphere and memorable characters.
The gameplay side is fun but the roleplaying is very watered down compared to others in the series.
Fallout 4 has a very interesting story and offers different ways to experience it.
