New Update Resurfaces On Ubisoft’s New Ghost Recon Game
New Ghost Recon game codenamed “Ovr” enters internal alpha; gameplay likened to Modern Warfare. Launch likely in Fall 2026.
Talk of a new Ghost Recon game has been going around for a while. Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced the title yet, but back during the PR for a new studio in partnership with Tencent, Ubisoft said the studio would focus on some of its most iconic franchises specifically mentioning Ghost Recon and The Division.
Since then, there hasn’t been much official news. But thanks to leaks and insiders, we’re not totally in the dark. And now it looks like the next Ghost Recon is making some real progress.
Ghost Recon “Ovr” Heads Into Alpha Testing This Fall
The next mainline Ghost Recon entry, reportedly codenamed “Ovr”, is moving forward in development. According to a new report by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is preparing for an internal alpha test of the game this Fall.
If the timeline follows Ubisoft’s typical pattern, we’re looking at a likely release about 12 months after the alpha, putting the launch window somewhere around Fall 2026. For reference, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake also just hit its internal alpha stage last month and is rumored to be targeting a March 31, 2026 release.
Insider Gaming also revealed that they were shown exclusive internal gameplay footage of the new Ghost Recon game. While they are unable to share visuals or detailed specifics, the tone and style were described as being similar to the Modern Warfare series or Ready or Not. That’s a strong indication that Ubisoft may be steering the franchise back toward grounded, gritty tactical realism.
That kind of direction would certainly resonate with longtime fans who felt the last few entries lost sight of the series’ roots. If the leaked descriptions hold true, “Ovr” could be the much-needed reset the franchise has been waiting for.
