The Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic team is dropping new updates on Gothic 1 Remake, this time inviting us to check out the voices behind the awesome Remake!
Gothic 1 Remake (or 2026) is the Fantasy Action RPG being developed by the Alkimia Interactive team and published by THQ Nordic. It’s the Remake project of the first beloved chapter of the famous series. It started out as a “pitch” back in 2019 under the name Gothic Playable Teaser. It was handed off to the Alkimia team after the Piranha Bytes crew decided to focus on the Elex series.
Finally dropping the first public demo online during the Steam Next Fest in February 2025, it got a ton of love and interest from fans. The team then decided to make the demo permanently available with new additions. Finally, they confirmed the Official launch for early 2026.
The Deep Dive on the Voices Behind Gothic 1 Remake
Following the latest news with Gothic Remake showing up at PGA in Poland, the THQ Nordic and Alkimia teams are dropping more news. Bringing an interesting and detailed behind-the-scenes look at the voices of the Gothic Remake world.
Giving us an in-depth look at the thoughts, as well as the development and creation of the characters. With the voices behind the protagonist, but also many characters like Xardas, Diego, and Velaya. Not to mention Ur-Shak, UrNazkrog, and the creation of the Orcish language.

Where our choices will have different outcomes and consequences, but with a world that will keep on going. This gives various layers to the protagonist, as well as the relationships with the various characters we’ll meet.
A Living Colony Far from Fantasy Tropes
As Daniel Bainbridge, one of the Voice Directors, confirms, Gothic Remake really tries to get away from the tropes of fantasy games. Portraying characters who are often not very enthusiastic or uninterested in us, seeing us as just another dude in The Colony.
So we’ll have to earn their trust or interest to get new options. Plus, there’s the challenge of creating the Orcish language, as a totally made-up language. The voice actors confirm that we’ll start to recognize some words by interacting with them. Dubbing that, remember, will also be in:

Bottom Line: An Immersive Fantasy Journey Coming in 2026
Following strong interest from fans and good initial feedback from the Demo, it looks like the Gothic Remake is aiming for an immersive experience. With a living open-world game world, full of options and challenges, even in the dialogue. With tons of character interactions, and an organic world that doesn’t revolve around us.
