About this game
As you travel through space, get ready to investigate, discover, and communicate with a wide range of species. Create a galactic empire by sending out science ships to examine and explore while building ships erect stations around recently discovered planets.
- As you spin a path for your society and impose constraints and evolutions on your explorers, uncover hidden riches and extraterrestrial wonders.

While this almost feels like “Sim Universe” at times, the core difference is in something for which to strive and active threats beyond your own mishandling of resources and the occasional fire to put out. There’s a whole universe out there, and I can’t wait to play through Stellaris as many times as it takes to experience the whole thing.

In the Stellaris expansion Nemesis, a destabilize galaxy’s fate will be up to the player to decide. Nemesis gives you the most potent tools ever made available in Stellaris by incorporating espionage tools, a path to power as the Galactic Custodian to confront endgame crises, or the Menace option to BECOME the final catastrophe.
- Become the Crisis: You are the fire that engulfs the galaxy and imperils it from inside. You’ll gain access to strong bonuses as your empire grows more frightening so you may end a hopeless cosmic standoff on your own terms. You have the potential to unleash enough power to terminate all of existence if the rest of the galaxy is unable to stop you in time!
- Galactic Custodian: It is your responsibility to lobby the Galactic Community to recognize you as a Custodian and provide you emergency powers to deal with the Crisis. Utilize them to save the galaxy from oblivion and establish order. You have the option of giving up your powers after the crisis is over—or keeping them and creating a new Galactic Imperium.
- Espionage: Use modern means to spy on your adversaries because knowledge is power (or friends). Send envoys to coordinate covert operations and intelligence gathering behind enemy lines. While you discover their darkest secrets, your opponents will be distracted by lies and deception.
- You can access new operations like Sabotage Starbase, Acquire Assets, and Steal Tech as your Infiltration Level rises. Through the use of defamation campaigns and the instigation of diplomatic problems, turn allies against one another. If you play your cards well, they won’t know anything about it, and what they don’t know will hurt them.
