Crimson Desert: 13-Minute Trailer Showcases Epic Battles & Open World

Yesterday, a new 13-minute gameplay video for Crimson Desert was released. The content of this video comes from the latest demo version of the game and showcases various aspects of the upcoming open-world RPG. It features glimpses of quests, exploration, and of course some battles, including boss fights.

Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is being developed by the Korean studio Pearl Abyss, best known for their MMORPG Black Desert Online. The game was originally intended to be a sequel to Black Desert. However, the studio decided to create a standalone single-player title set in the same universe. Crimson Desert has been in development since 2019 and has already been delayed multiple times. Most recently, the game was delayed again, now targeting Q1 2026.

Crimson Desert Demo Gameplay & Gamescom 2025

As mentioned earlier, the new gameplay comes from a new demo. Next week, Gamescom 2025 in Cologne will take place, where this demo will also be playable for fans. Later in the month, it will also be available at PAX West in Seattle. The 13-minute video begins with the main character Kliff arriving in Calphade, where a rebellion led by Cassius Morten is underway. Kliff is a mercenary and leader of the Greymanes, playing a key role in the fight against this uprising.

First, we see Kliff talking to some fighters and receiving his tasks. Then he glides down the mountain using a type of glider. Kliff can also climb walls and move freely across the open world. At the end of the trailer, we see just how far Kliff can glide and how the grappling hook is used. From the demo’s starting area, you can overlook a vast map, featuring forests and cities. Before getting into the combat, the demo already reveals unique mechanics rarely seen in other games. Kliff can use his elemental powers to become stronger and move heavy objects such as flagpoles. He can also fire artillery to gain an advantage in battles.

The game includes large-scale battles with many enemies and allies. Kliff can quickly switch between weapons such as a spear, sword, and elemental abilities. The combat is fast-paced, and elemental powers allow him to strike multiple foes at once. Naturally, he can also block and parry with his shield. In addition to regular enemies, there are elite opponents that can withstand far more damage.

Crimson Desert

Later in the trailer, we see a boss fight against Cassius Morten. This battle is somewhat reminiscent of the Souls series and Sekiro. The boss is tough and resilient, but the player does not take as much damage as in Souls games. The boss is nearly immune to damage until he is staggered through repeated attacks. In the video, Kliff then uses his powers to lift a massive stone pillar and smash it onto the boss’s head, dealing significant damage.

Crimson Desert Release Date

Crimson Desert is scheduled to release early next year, as mentioned before. So far, it has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and macOS. However, there are also leaks suggesting that a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 might be in development.
