Stellar Blade: This Happens when you Can’t Stop Staring at Eve

Stellar Blade, from the South Korean development team Shift Up, has finally been released on 26 April 2024, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Many have gotten their hands on the title, a third-person action game starring Eve and her squad in a post-apocalyptic future infested by Naytiba. Many are experimenting with the game, not only from a gameplay perspective but also visually, often admiring Eve thanks to the various unlockable outfits. It seems that something curious happens when admiring the beautiful protagonist for too long, with many players sharing their experiences regarding this.

Stellar Blade: Eve Knows What You’re Doing if You Stare at Her

One of the much-loved features of the brand-new title from Shift Up, currently exclusive to PlayStation 5, is the fact that unlike many modern games, you can unlock many game contents simply by playing, completing missions, or progressing through the story. Among the unlockables, the dedicated outfits for the protagonist, Eve, stand out, fully appreciable during gameplay thanks to a third-person perspective.

This has certainly led many users to admire the newly unlocked outfits for the protagonist directly in the game, given the lack of a Photo Mode to see more precisely. However, something very peculiar seems to happen if you admire Eve for too long. In fact, as shown in various videos, Eve herself will stare back for a certain period. A behavior that breaks the fourth wall, with Eve aware of the player’s presence and behaviour. A nice addition, perhaps also a homage to Nier Automata, where 2B instead reacts to the player depending on the camera placement. But we also have a similar example with Sam Porter, the protagonist of Death Stranding, who will even punch the camera.

Stellar Blade: Breaking the Fourth Wall and the Best Prices on Keys

Breaking the fourth wall is a concept widely used and explored in video games, a concept that has not always been well implemented where perhaps many modern games take themselves too seriously, trying to be too humorous or abusing it continuously. The concept itself is not only limited to the camera position but often involves characters referring to a third entity (the player) indirectly. The breaking of the wall in particular situations is what makes an interesting addition to the monotony that some tasks like farming or exploration can be. Many will certainly remember Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid reading our minds, namely describing the various saves on our PS1 Memory Card. Concepts that are often considered true Easter Eggs, albeit not very hidden.

Certainly, an Eve who responds by silently observing without even a sound has a much stronger impact. A nice addition to a game that, while not essentially bringing anything new, instead offers classic features and gameplay in a carefree manner in a period where everyone has something to say. As always, Allkeyshop shows the best prices for the brand-new Stellar Blade, allowing you to save almost 20€ compared to the list price. Bringing you to around 50€ for this new adrenaline-fueled third-person action game with a post-apocalyptic theme.
