Update Aug 20 – Xbox Game Pass surprise addition for August is The Rogue Prince of Persia. Play now with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC subscriptions on console, pc, and cloud.
Update Aug 19 – Microsoft has announced the wave 2 list of games entering Xbox Game Pass for August with Gears of War: Reloaded headlining the lineup. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also included which is finally leaving Game Trials on EA Play and will be available to play in full on the 28th. Also part of the 7-game lineup is Blacksmith Master which is the 2nd game on Game Preview to enter the service this month. Update Aug 8 – Surprises came early. Heretic + Hexen has shadow dropped, straight onto Game Pass. Herdling is also confirmed for the service when it launches on August 21st.
Original publication – August is definitely looking like the month when we can get on our backlogs. Xbox Game Pass has been so great since the start of the year that there isn’t practically enough time to finish all the great day-one launches and additions to the service. So now that we are looking at a particularly slim lineup, we can finish those games finally.
Xbox Game Pass August 2025 Joining Titles
Microsoft has revealed the wave 1 list for Xbox Game Pass, and it’s not really what many were expecting. Granted that it’s almost impossible for Game Pass to continue the momentum of insanely amazing games for eight months straight, but having nine titles only for the first half of the month is particularly thin. And not only that, half of the lineup are already part of Ultimate and PC and just getting added to the Standard tier.
With this kind of lineup, it’s safe to assume that people are expecting a few surprises here and there.
