About Project Warlock

Project Warlock is a retro-inspired first-person boomer shooter developed by Buckshot Software. Step into the shoes of a mysterious Warlock as they embark on a dangerous mission to eradicate all evil. Travel through time and space to wreak havoc just like in the golden days of fast-paced first-person shooters.

• Explore sixty vast levels in five different regions, from the frozen Antarctic base to the sands of Egypt. Look for keys to unlock new passages, and reveal secret caches full of ammo and gold. Then, finally, descend to hell to face the ultimate challenge and emerge victorious.
• Fight thousands of enemies from flying demons to five-story robots, splashing walls and floors with their blood and chunks. Figure out strategies and weapons that work best against them, learn their moves, and stay one step ahead to survive through the levels.
• Pick up weapons along the way, from powerful blades to massive guns totalling up to thirty eight weapons.
• Upgrade your hero, by assigning upgrade points and perks to your favorite skills between each level.

In the end though, perhaps what sets apart Project Warlock from the very recent old-school shooter renaissance we’ve been seeing is that outside of inspiration and certain elements it doesn’t look like any one thing from the ‘90s. Which in the end makes it special, and something well worth checking out.

But its strengths are still just as strong. The firefights are frenetic, the soundtrack is full of appropriately rockin’ tunes, and the multiple weapons feel like destructive tools any bloodthirsty ‘90s first-person shooter protagonist needs, especially the almighty quad-barrelled shotgun. And it’s these aspects, along with the mostly great port job, that make Project Warlock a worthy shooter on any of its current platforms.
