Star Wars Outlaws Gets September Release Date for Nintendo Switch 2
Ubisoft has announced Star Wars Outlaws will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025. The open-world RPG is already available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Creative director Drew Rechner made the announcement at the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The port is being developed by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Redlynx.
As part of the Switch 2 release, the Star Wars Outlaws: Gold Edition will feature the full base game and the Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune expansions.
What Is Star Wars Outlaws?
Star Wars Outlaws is described by Ubisoft as the “first-ever open-world Star Wars game.” It follows Kay Vess, a scoundrel who is seeking a way to a better life in a volatile and unpredictable galaxy.
In a life where danger is the norm, Kess is willing to risk it all to find freedom, whether it’s fighting, stealing from the Empire, or taking on dangerous missions given out by crime syndicates.
Players explore iconic locations on foot, by speeder bike, and by the Trailblazer, Kess’s starship that they can pilot in dogfights or use to avoid capture by entering hyperspace.
What the Switch 2 Version Could Offer
Speaking as part of the announcement during the Nintendo Direct, Ubisoft Redlynx’s senior producer, Pasi Piispa, told fans the game would maintain its gameplay and visual fidelity when it launches for the Switch 2.
Additionally, the Switch 2 version will feature alternative controls. This includes touch controls for in-game touch panels, enhancing immersion during tense moments in the game.
