On 9th March 2024, something peculiar happened regarding Stellar Blade, the new PS5 exclusive title set to release on April 26, 2024. It seems that the official demo appeared on the PlayStation store for a few hours before being removed and blocked. Leaving many users speculating about the situation.
As mentioned earlier, this demo seems to have appeared earlier than expected and was removed within a few hours from the PSN. What is particularly striking about the incident is not only that PlayStation moved quickly to remove it but even blocked access to the demo for those lucky users who managed to download it before its removal. A rather unique and unprecedented event, where we recall that even with Kojima’s PT case, the demo was removed from the store but users who had downloaded it and still had it in their library were able to access it without any problems.
This fact has greatly affected certain users who speculate about PlayStation’s reasons. Among these speculations, it is believed that the title was not yet completely ready, although lucky users who played (and some even finished) speak of a good game with a rather well-crafted experience, which reassures about the state of the game.
The most likely hypothesis is indeed a mistake in the release date of the demo, and that probably the South Korean team at SHIFT UP intended to release the demo for a special occasion like with a dedicated trailer before the release. Therefore, we will have to wait for the coming weeks to hear something about it, but it is certain that the demo will be made available when Stellar Blade is officially released on 26 April 2024.
