Space Marine 2: Saber Interactive Releases Official Modding Toolkit
Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive has released the official Integration Studio for public use, the same editor the developer uses for gameplay development. The modding toolkit is part of a pledge by Saber to support the modding community, which has exploded since the game’s launch on September 9, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Saber Interactive has released Integration Studio, the official in-house editing tool for Space Marine 2. The editing toolkit will allow players to create and edit content for the third-person shooter.
Announcing the launch on Discord, game director Dmitry Grigorenko called it the “biggest milestone yet in supporting the modding community.”
What the Official Modding Tools Include
Integration Studio is the “exact same editor” Saber uses to create Space Marine 2 content, and Dmitry says it’s only the “beginning,” as there is yet more to come.
Right now, modders can download the toolkit and edit and create the following:
- Level scenarios
- Game modes
- Individual blueprints — and even write your own gameplay logic
- AI Behavior Trees (work in progress)
- The AI Director
- Abilities and melee combo logic
- VFX editing — now 100x easier
- UI and HUD elements
Why Mod Support Matters for Space Marine 2
The modding community for Space Marine 2 has improved the game with lore-accurate content, expanding on Saber’s work. Mods like the recent Astartes Overhaul, which adds tons of weapons, animations, customization, and 12-player Operations mode, have kept fans engaged for longer, adding replayability and fresh content.
Over the last two decades, we have seen how mods can help a game expand, bringing in new players and prolonging its lifespan long after the developer anticipated. With modding, Space Marine 2 could see fan-made expansions, modes, and content that developer Saber Interactive wouldn’t have time to create. The Space Marine 2 Integration Studio editing tool is available to download here. Dmitry says it makes “editing anything SSL-related ten times faster, safer, and more intuitive.” Saber will also release more features further down the line as they continue to support modders.
The modding community continues to grow for the game, which Dmitry describes as “inspiring and humbling,” and is looking forward to seeing what people come up with – “whether it’s a cinematic campaign, wild new game mode, or something we never saw coming.”
