It wasn’t long ago when Sony announced that PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can watch Sony Pictures Films ad-free straight from the console. We’ve just jumped over half the month and the giant electronics company revealed one more perk that will surely excite PS Plus Premium members. Especially when the recent price hike was substantial.

Premium members, say hello to PlayStation Cloud Streaming!

Start playing selected games without the need to download them. As per Sony, in-game purchases and DLCs will also be available in the streaming service.

And to make this new perk feel more premium, subscribers can stream PS5 games up to 4k resolution with 60 FPS and SDR or HDR output. To go along with this is enhanced audio. There will be support for all PS5 audio functions including 5.1 and 7.1 plus the Tempest 3D Audiotech.

The PS5 Cloud Streaming service also allows premium subscribers to record up to 3 minutes of video and capture screenshots which will be downloaded to the Media Gallery on the PS5 console and PS App.

This new service will be available for PlayStation 5 at launch. So although there are no announcements as to when this will be available for PlayStation 4 and the upcoming PlayStation Portal, we are expecting that the service will be accessible through these platforms in the future.

When will PlayStation Cloud Streaming launch?

This new free perk for PS Plus members will go live in three different areas on three different dates.

It started off in Japan on October 17, 2023 followed by European countries on October 23, 2023. Then towards the end of the month, it will be available in North America on October 30, 2023.
