Nova Roma Will Not Launch Today, Release Date Moved to March 2026

Nova Roma early access delayed to March 26th but the updated Steam demo lets you start building your Roman city today.

Nova Roma, the new city-building game many are excited about, was initially scheduled to release in Steam Early Access today. However, that is not happening anymore but the good news is, fans won’t have to wait too long because the new release date is now set for March 26th.

Nova Roma release date moved to March 2026

Developer Lion Shield announced back in October that its upcoming city-building game, Nova Roma, will make its Steam Early Access debut on January 22nd. The reveal was met with even more excitement as they shared that the game will launch day-one on Xbox Game Pass too, under the Game Preview program.

However, 2 weeks prior to the launch day, the team decided to give the game a bit more time in the dev room. That’s also why the title was no longer part of the Game Pass lineup for January.

While some knew about the delay, it flew under the radar for many. Unlike the initial release date announcement and even the launch of the demo which were shared in Lion Shield’s X account, the delay was only posted on their Steam community page. No one knows for sure why the delay wasn’t much publicized.

But while we have to wait a bit longer for Nova Roma, its Steam demo is still live. And according to the delay announcement, it was updated with player feedback which included fixes and and the addition of rain, flooding, and droughts.

Nova Roma is a city-building simulation set during the decline of the Roman Empire where you lead a small band of citizens to establish a new, thriving city in the hopes of preserving the glory of Rome. Starting from a humble settlement, you must manage resources, construct grand temples to appease the gods, and guide your population’s needs from food and entertainment to artisan work and gladiatorial spectacles, while expanding infrastructure across untamed lands.

With intricate water management, soil fertility, and long supply chains to consider, every decision affects the growth and prosperity of your city. Balancing urban expansion, citizen happiness, and divine favor, you must transform Nova Roma into a cultural and social powerhouse capable of standing the test of time.

Nova Roma is now scheduled to release on March 26, 2026 for PC via Steam Early Access, and Xbox Game Pass.
