It is the sequel fans have been demanding, expanding on the “Gatlian” gunplay that turned the original into a breakout hit.

However, the launch hasn’t been without its hurdles. In a last-minute shift that has left handheld enthusiasts checking their calendars, the Nintendo Switch 2 version has been officially pushed back from its April window to July 1, 2026.

While the developers cite a need for further optimization to meet the studio’s “high standards for gaming” in a blog post, the good news is that the game is performing at peak performance on other platforms right now.

High on Life 2 doubles down on the absurdity that made the first game a viral hit. The core gameplay still revolves around sentient, foul-mouthed weaponry, but the arsenal has expanded with “The Gatlian Syndicate, “a group of new guns with distinct personalities and firing modes.

Movement feels faster thanks to a refined grappling hook system and the new “Bounty Hub.” This central station lets you track targets across more vertical, open-ended alien biomes. It is bigger, louder, and significantly weirder than the original.

Platform Availability

The game is officially live for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. If you are playing on these platforms, you can jump in immediately to start hunting the new wave of intergalactic criminals.

However, the news isn’t as great for Nintendo fans. Squanch Games confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version is delayed until July 1, 2026. The developers cited the need for extra polish to ensure the sequel runs smoothly on the new hardware.
