Warner Bro. Interactive decided on a Middle Earth Shadow of War tribute to one of their late producers by adding one of its unstoppable warriors to the game, the Forthog Orcslayer.

Middle-Earth Shadow of War

Mike “Forthog” Forgey was one of the leading developers on Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and has also worked on other games such as Gears of War, Fable, Conker, and Perfect Zero. He lost his battle with cancer during the Middle Earth Shadow of War’s development on March 3, 2016.

The development team in Monolith Productions made the decision to add the Forthog Orcslayer in the game in order to keep their friend’s legacy alive, the “legendary Forthog Orcslayer is our way to continue having Mike leap into battle and save us when we’re down.” The Forthog Orcslayer is “an unstoppable warrior who saves Mordor’s mightiest heroes at their moment of great need.”

The tribute was announced on Steam. And for every Forthog Orcslayer purchase in the US for $4.99, $3.50 will be donated by Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment to the family of Forgey.

A fundraiser was set up on YouCaring for Forgey’s medical treatment for the amount of $300,000. The fundraiser was able to reach more than $100,000.

The character Forthog Orcslayer is available on Steam for preorders. Middle Earth Shadow of War will officially launch on October 10, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
