It seems there’s some exciting news for fans of Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, the post-apocalyptic series set in an alternate future following the story of the young huntress Aloy in a world dominated by machines where humanity has been reduced to a tribal state. Indeed, some users on Reddit have begun to notice something that seems to point to a probable Remake of Horizon Zero Dawn, the first game in the series.
The first clues seem to have been provided on Reddit on 1st May 2024. As some users noticed that their PS Plus Extra and Premium version of Horizon Zero Dawn reported that Guerrilla Games’ title would be removed from the PlayStation subscription lineup. A decidedly strange thing considering that the title is a Sony first-party game and decidedly very popularized by PlayStation among their exclusives. Especially with the recent arrival of Forbidden West, the sequel, in the Complete Edition version on PC, thus reigniting interest in the first chapter.
We recall that about 2 years ago there were already rumors of a Remake for Horizon Zero Dawn on PS5, despite the PlayStation title being fairly recent. A fact that certainly strongly resembles that of The Last of US, which received a remake with the second re-release on PS5 (a game released on PS3 in 2013). Another big clue would be that of an alleged State of Play coming soon, which would be the perfect opportunity to announce the Remake of Horizon Zero Dawn, especially after removing the base version from PS Plus.
Horizon Zero Dawn will be removed from PlayStation Plus starting 21st May 2024, leaving just under 3 weeks for already subscribed users to try the first chapter of Aloy’s adventure if they haven’t already. Regarding the rumored State of Play, it seems that some rumors already circulating since April seem to be pointing to May 2024, a timing that certainly catches the eye.
We still don’t know much about it, but if it were to arrive on PS4 as well, it is not unlikely that PlayStation decides to remove the base version from the PS Store to avoid cannibalizing sales of the alleged Remake. What is certain is that Horizon Zero Dawn, despite its years on its shoulders, remains a fantastic game, very accessible and reasonably priced. We recommend to those interested to try the game on PS Plus Extra or Premium before it is removed, or even to secure a copy in case it is also removed from the PlayStation Store.
