Helldivers 3: Arrowhead Has No Plans for a Sequel, Instead Wants to Update Helldivers 2 Forever
Arrowhead Game Studios has clarified that it has no plans for Helldivers 3. Instead, the developer wants to keep updating Helldivers 2 and make it a “forever game.”
Instead of moving to a sequel, Arrowhead is committed to expanding Helldivers 2 with new content and updates that it hopes will be forever.
Arrowhead CEO Sharms Jorjani told fans to think “Runescape” in a post on the game’s official Discord, where he told fans that the studio has “no plans for HD3.”
Arrowhead’s Focus on Helldivers 2
Jorjani’s latest comments follow the developer’s previous statements, in which Helldivers 2’s Alex Bolle told IGN that they want the game to be around “for years and years.”
Arrowhead continues to update Helldivers 2, with a new patch scheduled for mid-October that will focus on addressing key crashes and improving performance. This follows the recent Into the Unjust patch, which introduced new Hive Worlds, missions, enemies, and more.
The Future of Helldivers 2
While Arrowhead has not shared exact details on what’s to come in future updates and patches, the studio has previously stated it wants to introduce new features and content while remaining faithful to the Helldivers 2 fantasy.
In the meantime, publisher Sony has announced a movie adaptation of Helldivers 2, which is in production by Sony Pictures and Sony Productions. So far, we don’t have any details on casting, story, or expected release date.
