Final Fantasy 15 is well over a year old at this point, but Square Enix has been continually pushing more content to their series redefining RPG. The next update is bringing what could be the most requested feature of all. Players will soon be able to freely switch between Noctis, Gladio, Prompto and Ignis during the game’s open-world portions.

Players have only been able to control Noctis, the game’s primary protagonist, while the other boys were controlled by AI. The new feature was revealed in the game’s most recent Active Time Report livestream.

The next DLC chapter for the game will also be launching on 13 December. Just as previous chapters focused on Gladio and Prompto, Episode Ignis will be focusing on the group’s culinary expert and is free for Season Pass owners. A trailer was also released for the DLC chapter but you might not want to watch it if you haven’t finished the main story yet [THIS IS YOUR SPOILER WARNING].

December also marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise. 2018 is gearing up to be a big year for Final Fantasy 15 as it will be releasing on PC early next year. At least three more DLC chapters are also in the works and will be released throughout next year. Meanwhile, Noctis will also be crossing over to Namco Bandai’s Tekken 7 as a special guest character. You can check out his reveal trailer below.

With so much on the way for the latest numbered game in the series, fans can be sure that the game will continue to stay alive for a very long time. This is just as it should be though, since the game did take a really long time to come out.
