Ubsioft’s free-to-play arena shooter XDefiant launches today, after years of delays and betas. Is it going to stand up against other games in the genre?
XDefiant, the free-to-play FPS from Ubisoft releases May 21, with the arena shooter set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
Since its announcement in 2021, XDefiant has been hit with delay after delay, with many wondering if the shooter would ever see the light of day. But now, with all that behind them, Ubisoft is set to take on the likes of Overwatch 2 and Valorant.
For those who haven’t seen much of the game, XDefiant is a fast-paced online multiplayer shooter with multiple factions, maps inspired by other Ubisoft worlds, and customizable loadouts for personalized gameplay. It is also cross-platform and features cross-platform progression, so you can play with friends regardless of whether they’re on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC.
Players have been able to download and preload XDefiant since last week, and at the time of writing this article, there are still a few hours left to get it installed before it goes live. The game launches at the following times in your region:
The download size for the game is roughly 30.09GB on PS5, 30.08GB on Xbox Series X|S, and 35GB on PC.
