SHIFT UP’s Project Spirits Revealed: Eastern Fantasy RPG Launches in 2027

SHIFT UP’s team just dropped a surprise announcement: Project Spirits, their next big game from the South Korean studio. Let’s dive into what’s coming!

Announced the new Project Spirits by the Stellar Blade team, Shift Up!

Shift Up is the South Korean development studio led by Kim Hyung Tae. Known mostly for Goddess of Victory: Nikke and more recently Stellar Blade (SB). The latter launched exclusively on PS5 on 26 April 2024 and is now gearing up for a PC release.

This studio is mainly famous for mobile gacha games but with SB they proved to be just as skilled at buy-to-play games. Offering a fast-paced action adventure set in a futuristic world with great reviews. The PC launch is planned for 11 and 12 June 2025. Project Spirits: Shift Up’s New IP Revealed

As Shift Up gears up for the Stellar Blade PC launch, some exciting news popped up. The team revealed a fresh update first on their official site, then shared by fans on social media: their new game in development called Project Spirits.

They confirm it’s the project formerly known as Project Witches. A new game led by Han Daehoon with an ongoing job listing for artists (monsters, characters, backgrounds), designers, and screenwriters. The game will launch cross-platform on PC and mobile devices by 2027.

What We Know About Shift Up’s Project Spirits

Like we said, Project Spirits is the new name for the game once called Project Witches. It first appeared back in August 2024 following the big success of Stellar Blade on PS5. The game was originally planned as an “Urban Fantasy RPG.”

But recent info from the team shows a major shift in gameplay style. Spirits is now announced as an EASTERN fantasy with a “subculture” vibe. The job listing also confirms it’s being built on Unreal Engine 5, with an open-world experience and dungeons. Featuring anime-style graphics and a JRPG-style gameplay.

 

In Conclusion

So yeah, the Shift Up team is already busy working on a new IP set for 2027. But this game looks more like a cross-platform gacha experience rather than something similar to Stellar Blade.

That said, it doesn’t mean we won’t see more non-live service games from them in the future — actually, we already got confirmation of a sequel planned for 2026-2027. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
