What is a PS4?

The PlayStation 4 or PS4 is Sony’s fourth console, launched in 2013.

What Year Did the PlayStation 4 Release?

 

The PS4 was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2013 and later presented at E3 2013 before launching later that year.

Sony decided to fight for gamers and chose to take a stand against Microsoft’s policies surrounding zoning, blocking used games, and mandatory logins to play games.

Sony gained the upper hand in the console war against Microsoft and the Xbox One by declaring they supported game-sharing.

Days after Sony’s PS4 announcement, Microsoft folded to heavy pressure and modified its policies to align with Sony and the PlayStation 4.

Are My PS3 Games Compatible With the PS4?

Sony tested a new streaming service in 2014, allowing players to download and play certain games from the PS3 catalog.

After a two-year testing phase, PlayStation Now launched in the US in 2015 and in Europe in 2016.

Now, anyone subscribed to Sony’s paid subscription service can emulate and play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games on PS4.
