Level-5 has officially delayed Professor Layton and the New World of Steam to 2026, pushing back from the 2025 release window.

Level-5 has announced that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will no longer be able to make its original 2025 release window. The game is now targeted to release sometime in 2026.

It’s been a long wait and unfortunately, that wait is still going to be longer. When Level-5 announced that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is part of their TGS 2025 lineup, many hoped that a release date would be set. However, that didn’t happen, in fact, the contrary.

In an official announcement on Level-5’s website, the team stated that the game needs more time in development and will no longer make it to its initial 2025 release window. This window was set back in 2023 after the game was announced.

If there’s any consolation though, at least they didn’t leave fans completely empty-handed. A new trailer was released featuring new music and the city that thrived thanks to steam engines, Steam Bison.

And for those who can make it to Tokyo Game Show 2025 in Japan, a public demo for the game can be played on site. Playing it grants you a Professor Layton-inspired Smartphone Ring Holder.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026.
