Hugh and Diana navigating and facing the dangers of the desolate lunar base in Pragmata

Remember that mysterious astronaut and the little girl from that cryptic trailer years ago? The silence is finally broken.

Capcom just dropped a massive update during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, and it’s far more than just another cinematic teaser.

The Pragmata “Sketchbook” demo is live right now on the eShop. If you’ve been waiting to see what the Switch 2 can actually do with the RE Engine, this is your first real look.

Hacking the Moon

This isn’t your standard run-and-gun shooter. Playing Pragmata feels like a high-stakes rhythm game mixed with survival horror.

You step into the boots of Hugh, a response team member stranded on a freezing, desolate lunar station, but you aren’t alone. You’re tethered to Diana, an android kid who is literally your lifeline. The combat loop is frantic but satisfying. The enemy bots are tanky; your bullets basically bounce off their armor.

That’s where the “Dual” mechanic kicks in. You have to protect Diana while she hacks the enemies in real-time. It’s not a cutscene; you’re guiding a cursor through a grid on the fly. You aim for “goal nodes” to strip enemy shields while dodging attacks. Hit a blue or yellow node, and you trigger buffs or multi-hacks. It forces you to think fast.

You can’t just spam the trigger; you have to sync Hugh’s suppressing fire with Diana’s digital infiltration. It’s chaotic, cerebral, and feels distinctively Capcom.

Pragmata: The Details

Beyond the slick combat, the “Sketchbook” demo hints at some deeper lore involving “Lunafilament“—a substance that can replicate matter from data. The environment tells half the story: a quiet, terrifyingly sterile station controlled by an AI that wants you dead.

Capcom has been defending the long development cycle, claiming they needed the time to polish this unique interplay between the two protagonists. Judging by the fluidity of the Switch 2 demo, that time was well spent. You won’t be waiting long to see how the full story unfolds.

Pragmata lands on April 24, 2026, hitting Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In Conclusion: A Beautifully Broken World to Try Now!

This demo proves that Pragmata is shaping up to be something special. The bond between Hugh and Diana drives every moment of the gameplay, turning every encounter into a desperate fight for survival where you genuinely care about your partner.

The hacking mechanic takes a minute to get used to, but once it clicks, it’s incredibly addictive. Plus, playing it multiple times apparently reveals new secrets in the “Sketchbook,” rewarding you for paying close attention to the environment.

Are you digging the dual-character mechanic, or do you usually prefer going solo in survival games?
