Warhorse Studios just pulled back the curtain on a scrapped “dynamic body” system for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While realism is the series’ backbone, this specific “Fat Henry” mechanic is seemingly a bullet dodged.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a highly realistic game that focuses on historical accuracy and authenticity through its setting and systems. However, it could have been even more realistic.
In a recent reveal to PC Gamer, Warhorse Studios co-founder and executive producer Martin Klima admitted that KCD2 nearly featured a weight system reminiscent of GTA: San Andreas.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: The “San Andreas” System That Almost Was
In this prototype, Henry’s physical size would fluctuate based on your caloric intake. Eat too many dumplings, and Henry would visibly put on the pounds.
The technical absurdity didn’t stop at visuals. The scrapped system dictated that stolen armor would only fit if Henry was the same size as the NPC he looted it from. If you were “Chunky Henry,” that sleek Milanese brigandine you found on a slender bandit simply wouldn’t close. You would have had to go on a literal in-game diet just to wear your loot.
KCD2: Why Complexity Isn’t Always Quality
Warhorse ultimately realized that this was a layer of “bizarre” complexity the game didn’t need. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 already features a massive 16-slot armor layering system. You’re already managing gambesons, chainmail, plate, and surcoats while tracking noise, visibility, and conspicuousness.
Adding metabolic maintenance would have crossed the line from immersive simulation into tedious busywork. Imagine being mid-quest and realizing your stamina is capped not because of an injury, but because Henry’s waistline outgrew his expensive cuirass. It’s a logistical nightmare that would have stalled the game’s momentum for the sake of a gimmick.
The existing “Nourishment” and “Nutrition” stats still remain in the game code, serving as ghosts of this abandoned feature. While some hardcore fans mourn the loss of “Bohemia’s Chunkiest Boy,” most players will find that managing 15th-century politics is stressful enough without counting calories.
Is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Better Without It?
Cutting the “Fat Henry” system was the right call. It allowed Warhorse to polish the existing, deep mechanics that actually matter. The game remains a brutal, beautiful simulation, but it wisely stops short of becoming a medieval weight-loss simulator.
Would you have preferred the extra challenge of fitting into your armor, or is the current system complex enough?
