Highguard Remains on Track for January 26 with a Launch-Day Showcase Confirmed

Highguard is alive and will be launching as planned on January 26th. Wildlight Entertainment has prepared a launch day showcase too.

 

Well, who’d have thought we’d actually see the day Wildlight Entertainment brings Highguard back on stage. After more than a month of radio silence and a fast approaching launch day, the studio finally gives an update. Highguard is still releasing as planned and it even comes with a deep-dive showcase on the same day.

 

Highguard Launch Day Showcase Announced

Highguard definitely made a splash not just with its TGA 2025 closing trailer but maybe even more so, the absence afterwards. To get the last spot of arguably the biggest show of the year was a big deal. Granted that during the holidays no one really wants to work much so the silence was still understandable.

But then a couple of weeks into January and still no update. This made everyone think (and reasonably too) that maybe the game was quietly shelved. Launch week came, and still none. It was almost funny that the community even went for Geoff Keighley to ask what the deal is with this game.

But now finally, days from launch, the game’s official X account posted a 3-day countdown pertaining to Highguard’s launch. After that, another update was posted announcing the Highguard Launch Showcase at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 6PM GMT. The broadcast will feature a full gameplay deep dive, year one plans, and more.

   

Interesting marketing to say the least. Maybe because new online PvP games haven’t done much well upon release that Wildlight thought they’ll do the lead up differently. Build the anticipation and grow the publicity by word of mouth only. Hey there’s no such thing as bad publicity they say.

But since the promotion is a bit unorthodox, the response very well may be too. While the Youtube link to the showcase has comments disabled, the X post is not. It’s nothing toxic to be fair, it’s mostly just taking the piss.

Devolver Digital even got in there asking if they still needed a publisher. Another one commented, “bro finally remembered the password”, and also a “Year One Plan? What is it Don’t Die?.”

Whatever the outcome is for the game, the lack-of-marketing marketing did well for the showcase as it will probably pull in some numbers. The only thing left now is to make sure the team has got a solid game.
