Crate Entertainment has updated fans on the upcoming Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn expansion, and it could still launch in 2025. The DLC is massive, and while the developer still hopes for a release this winter, it has not ruled out a 2026 launch.
Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn was an expansion teased by developer Crate Entertainment in 2023. Although it could launch in Winter 2025, fans may have to wait until Summer 2026.
In an update to fans on its official site, Crate Entertainment says the expansion will be “roughly 110% larger than the Ashes of Malmouth DLC from 2017.
What Is Fangs of Asterkarn?
Fangs of Asterkarn is an upcoming expansion for an action RPG Grim Dawn. Set in the snowy wilderness of Asterkarn to the West, players will join the nomadic people, helping them against the Kurn as they push to the East toward a new life.
Covering approximately “3.55sq. km, the DLC will feature four new zones, a quest hub, and nearly 50 main and side quests. Crate Entertainment says it is pushing the game’s engine “to its absolute limit.”
New Features and Gameplay Enhancements
Since its announcement in 2023, players have known that the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion will add hundreds of new items, Epic items, new roguelike dungeons, potion customization, and the Ascendant game mode to Grim Dawn.
In the latest development update, Crate Entertainment expands on the DLC’s features, adding that there are over 380 new Unique items to loot and 54 new boss enemies, including 8 new Nemesis encounters. The developer describes Fangs of Asterkarn as the “largest expansion, filled with the most unique assets, animations, and new creatures than we have ever done before.”
Will It Launch in 2025?
While there is no hard release date for Fangs of Asterkarn, Crate Entertainment says, “a late Fall/Winter 2025 release is within the realm of possibility.” However, as the expansion continues to expand, schedules can “predictably” blow up.
Rather than promise fans a firm release date, the developer has tempered fans’ expectations, stating it would “not be surprised if we slip to Spring 2026, or even early Summer if we need more time to polish.”
