Xbox Developer Direct 2026 recap featuring Forza Horizon 6, Beast of Reincarnation, Fable, and surprise title Kiln, with key reveals and dates.
Microsoft’s first broadcast of the year, Xbox Developer Direct 2026, has finished and it delivered just the right amount of excitement for some of the biggest titles to release this year. It was previously announced that Forza Horizon 6, Beast of Reincarnation, and Fable will be featured, plus a surprise fourth title. Now we know it’s Kiln from the award-winning studio which brought us Keeper and Psychonauts, Double Fine Productions.
Xbox Developer Direct 2026 Recap
Missed the show? Let’s do a recap for everything announced during Xbox Developer Direct 2026. And since the show isn’t a bombardment of trailers and new gameplay footage, we’ll be able to go through the 4 titles that were featured.
Forza Horizon 6
Just before the show, Billbil-kun was able to release some important details about the launch which has now been confirmed by an official announcement. Forza Horizon 6 will launch on May 19th for PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox for PC, Xbox Cloud, and day-one on Game Pass. A Playstation 5 version is also confirmed but will launch later part of the year.
As accurately leaked, the game is offered in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Premium, with a Premium Upgrade bundle available too. Of the three, only Premium has early access which grants players to experience the game as early as May 15th.
The game will be set in Japan and will include more than 550 vehicles at launch including its cover cars, Toyota GR GT and Toyota Land Cruiser J250. According to the devs, FH6 has the largest and most detailed map in the series to date, plus some new features including Customizable Garages and The Estate.
Preorders are now live at €69,99 / $69.99 for the Standard, €99,99 / $99.99 for Deluxe, and €199,99 / $199.99 for the Premium. As for the Premium Upgrade, it’s at €59,99 / $59.99.
Beast of Reincarnation
Game Freak showcased more of its upcoming title Beast of Reincarnation which sees Emma and her dog Koo as they hunt down malefacts in a post-apocalyptic Japan circa 4026 AD. Scheduled to release summer of 2026, it will be available across PC, Xbox, and Playstation consoles. It is also confirmed to launch day-one on Game Pass.
It’s a cool premise with Emma being “blight”-inflicted stripping her of her memories but can manipulate plants, and then there’s Koo who can slow time. Their skills compliment each other and more can be unlocked as players progress. Its teamwork-driven gameplay gives us some I Am Legend feels which we’re all excited for.
Kiln
Kiln is the surprise title of the show, and it carried the expectations very well. Let’s face it, how could it disappoint if it came from Double Fine Productions which gave us award-winning titles Keeper and Psychonauts. And like these two, Kiln also sports the similar art style we so love.
This new game is an 8-player pottery-party brawler scheduled to release spring of 2026. It will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox, and Playstation consoles. A Closed Beta is also confirmed which should be fairly soon considering spring isn’t that far away.
The game is pretty quirky. Players make ceramic fighters from a realistic pottery wheel, and how your fighter is made, determines your abilities. So while at its core, it’s a face paced multiplayer game, it also blends creative strategic elements.
Fable
Finally, there’s Fable. This much awaited reboot from Playground Games is set to release autumn of 2026. It will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox, and Playstation consoles. It is also a day-one launch on Game Pass.
The studio delivered some in-depth look at the game including character customization, dynamic NPC behaviour, a new morality system, and fresh combat footage. While there’s new stuff to see, expect Fable’s core elements to be present, especially its British dry humor.
As these games are all scheduled to release this year, expect more details, more preorders opening, and more gameplay footage to be released soon. For now, here’s the full broadcast to relive the announcements or see it for the first time if you missed it live.
