The rebellion in Talamh has officially gone global. Since launching last October, the roguelite beat ’em up Absolum has managed to keep its momentum rolling.

After smashing 200,000 sales in just its first week, Dotemu and Guard Crush Games have confirmed the game has now crossed the 500,000 copies sold mark worldwide.


Absolum Update 1.1: The “Threads of Fate” Arrives

To celebrate the half-million milestone, the developers aren’t just popping champagne; they are dropping the version 1.1 update, titled “Threads of Fate,” on February 12.

This isn’t a small patch. It is a fundamental expansion of how the game is played, designed specifically to test the skills of the veteran players who have already mastered the base game on PS5, Switch, and Steam.

If you thought the Crimson Order was tough before, the new mechanics are about to humble you.


Absolum Gameplay: Mystic Ordeals

The core of this update is about giving players control over their own suffering. Here is exactly what is changing in the loop:

  • Mystic Ordeals (Custom Challenges): Once you beat the final boss, you unlock this new mode. It offers pre-set challenges with punishing modifiers.
  • The Custom Editor: This is the major shift. You can create your own nightmare scenarios and generate a unique code to share on Discord or Reddit. It’s no longer just about beating the game; it’s about daring your friends to survive your rules.
  • Corrupted Regions: These aren’t random surprises anymore. You will see “Corrupted Regions” directly on Maugis’ map. These zones are filled with stronger enemies and offer greater rewards.
  • Total Corruption: For the absolute masochists, the devs confirmed you can use the Mystic Ordeals to corrupt the entire world map, turning the whole run into a high-stakes gauntlet.

Elite Mounts & The Sacred Tree

It’s not all pain and punishment. The update brings new tools to help you survive the chaos.

The breeding program got an upgrade. You can now find “Elite mounts” in the wild—they are bigger, faster, and possess upgraded attacks to clear out the hordes.

Customization is also getting deeper. Every hero gets new skins unlockable through the Sacred Tree or by completing challenges. Plus, the new emote packs now come with unique voice lines, making co-op communication (or taunting) much more lively.


Verdict: Is It Time to Re-Install?

With 500k players and a dedicated roadmap leading into early 2026, Absolum is proving it’s not a flash in the pan. The “Threads of Fate” update addresses the biggest request from the community: replayability.

By adding shareable challenge codes and map manipulation, the devs have effectively given the community the keys to build their own endgame.
