Platforms – Yes, It’s Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Certainly, one of the biggest surprises about Cronos came with the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Announced as a surprise during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase on July 31, 2025. A fantastic surprise for Nintendo fans who will get to experience Bloober’s new horror game.
However, there will only be a Digital Standard Edition or Physical Edition for $59.99. The Physical version is only available in Key Card format, even though the game fits well within the 64GB maximum limit of NS2 cartridges. Meanwhile, the PS5 version will also have the Digital Deluxe, with the Standard Physical Edition distributed by Skybound Games in the USA and by Bandai Namco in Europe.
Story & Atmosphere – Soul Harvesting and Narrative Horror
Cronos is shaping up to be an adventure that pushes the limits of the space-time concept. We will explore the remains of 1980s Poland after the event known as The Change. The goal is to Harvest the Souls of certain individuals, holding the key to changing the future.
This allows us to explore a past of a world on the brink of collapse, with a horror experience that is both psychological and physical. The words of the Warden—“The human race – an anomaly, yet the perfect one…”—perfectly encapsulate the kind of experience that awaits us.
Cronos Gameplay – Survival, Fear, and Discovery
Bloober is delivering a classic-style horror experience. It blends exploration with Survival gameplay, but not without introducing some new twists. For example, one of the main mechanics is Enemy Merging. Certain enemies will be able to absorb the corpses of Orphans and become even more terrifying and dangerous anomalies.
Cronos also offers an immersive experience, complete with exploration and puzzles to solve, alongside stealth and combat. Furthermore, our actions will have an impact on the experience through the moral choices we must make, discovering fragments of a past that no longer exists.
New Trailer – Fear and Mystery in Every Frame
Bloober team was one of the major participants at Gamescom 2025. At the event, they not only presented a 15-minute hands-on demo but also a new trailer titled A New Breed Of Horror. The trailer has a strong cinematic feel and is accompanied by the song Sixteen Days/Gathering Dust, the debut single from the band This Mortal Coil in 1983.
It showcases a blend of action and exploration amidst the creepy yet fascinating desolate remains of 1980 with a biomechanical horror touch. It brings to mind visual experiences like Scorn, but also Silent Hill 2. And a gameplay that is certainly not lacking in intense moments. The This Mortal Coil single, with its post-punk style, fits perfectly with the theme of the past and time.
In Conclusion – A Terrifying Journey Awaits This Fall
Cronos: The New Dawn is shaping up to be one of the most intense and intriguing horror experiences of 2025. Despite strong competition, Bloober delivers psychological torment and the concept of soul harvesting. Accompanied by next-gen graphics and a dystopian setting for a memorable experience. With a terror that is available on PC and Consoles, and also at your fingertips on Nintendo Switch 2.
