The private multiplayer beta will start on August 3rd on Playstation 4, with PC and Xbox One following shortly after. The PC version will be available exclusively on Battle.net and will be open to everyone who has an account on the platform. Signing up for an account is free. Those who pre-order the game through Battle.net will get to play a full extra day.
Those who want to join in on consoles will have to pre-order the game from select retailers to receive a Private Beta key. Those who pre-order digitally through the PlayStation or Xbox stores won’t need a beta key as they will be registered automatically.
Here are the schedules for the private multiplayer beta:
- PC: August 11th – 6PM BST/7PM CEST – August 13th – 6PM BST/7PM CEST
- PC Beta Early Access starts August 10 – 6PM BST/7PM CEST
- PS4: August 3rd – 6PM BST/7PM CEST to August 6th – 6PM BST/7PM CEST

The private multiplayer beta will feature 6 maps through 5 game modes — Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and the all-new Control game mode. Specialists Nomad and Propher will be playable, along with a few new Specialists.
Those who participate in the private multiplayer beta will receive a calling card to display, while those who achieve max rack will get a Permanent Unlock Token. The latter can be used in the Create-a-Class content in the full release.
The Blackout beta will be held in September. More details will be revealed close to the end of summer, but it is already confirmed that PS4 players will get to play the beta first as well.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12th.
