From the outset, and playing on Xbox Series X, The Callisto Protocol is a genuinely jaw-dropping visual assault. It might have the most detailed interiors of any game I’ve ever played, and the variety in art that accompanies these is staggering.
Overall, Callisto is a really good survival horror experience. If you like Dead Space, you need to try this game. The main campaign has a lot of passion put into it and I had a bunch of fun with it.

The Callisto Protocol seemed promising, but it didn’t deliver much beyond a good atmosphere. Moreover, I don’t think it can’t stand comparison to Dead Space Remake, which is much more fluid and optimized. The graphics, setting and story are nice, but the lack of suspense doesn’t bring any immersion in the game. If you like horror games, you should try it on discount though.
The atmosphere is eerie, the graphics are striking, and there are some good gameplay ideas (mutations, secondary weapon fire, dodging). It’s a little repetitive at times (same enemies, corridor phases, etc.). Too scripted, running disabled in some cases, average inventory and poorly written scenario for my taste. But it’s still a good game with a horrific atmosphere that’s quite decent if you get it at a good price. We’ve already seen much worse, and prices have started to come down already!
Callisto Protocol is a late 2022 title developed by Striking Distance Studios, with the the Dead Space co-creator as its director, a thid person action horror adventure heavily inspired by the very same Dead Space.
The game was hyped as a new Dead Space-like adventure after almost 9 years of absence of a new title. Unfortunately the game didn’t live up it’s own hype, with a few bad mechanics here and there, along with performance issues. Although it’s a fun title for cheap.
The Callisto Protocol is a thrilling and terrifying experience that horror fans won’t want to miss. Developed by the creators of Dead Space, the game delivers a chilling atmosphere and a gripping narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The attention to detail in the visuals and sound design is exceptional, creating a truly immersive and terrifying world.
The gameplay mechanics are intuitive and well-executed, providing a mix of intense combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. The game’s setting on the eerie prison colony of Callisto is hauntingly atmospheric, and the enemies you encounter are genuinely frightening. The story unfolds in a way that keeps you guessing, and the sense of dread and suspense lingers throughout.
