With a nine-year absence of a new Dead Space instalment, Callisto Protocol a title from Striking Distance Studios, headed by the co-creator of precisely Dead Space, attempted to fill the gap with this third-person horror set in space. Unfortunately, the project was too ambitious, with a disappointing result for Dead Space fans. Still, it remains a nice game to play without too much pretension, especially at a low price and turning a blind eye.
Callisto Protocol is an horror game with a decent story and great atmosphere. This game is heavily inspired in the Dead Space franchise and some similarities show mainly in its atmosphere but the combat is much more melee focused, relying in dodging enemies and striking them. The gameplay may be a bit dull because of its repetitiveness but Callisto Protocol does a great job at being an immersive cinematic experience with a great cast o characters.
