    About this game

    Rise of the Third Power is an ode to the iconic retro JRPGs of the past who have paved the way for the gaming industry emulating the aesthetic of the glory days of console-style RPGs with modern-day conveniences such as an auto-save feature, and a combination of the best of Japanese and western style of gameplay and writing. The story is loosely based on the political climate of Europe in the 1930s, as the land of Rin is still recovering from the great war the vacuum of power is still waiting to be filled the player’s party well both be aided and beset by liars, schemers, and traitors you must navigate carefully the political landscape and try to prevent the seemingly inevitable war.

     
    • Join a party of eight each of them has their own reasons for joining you, their own ambitions, perspectives, and personalities but whatever their reason is you will need all of their help if you are going to succeed in toppling Arkadyan emperor.
    • Rise of the Third Power’s battle system is built from scratch, each character has its own strength and weaknesses, all of whom are meant to participate in battle simultaneously without the need of character switching of the older games. Combine each party member’s potential, analyze the abilities of your foes, set your formation, and charge into battle.
    • Each piece of equipment you find, purchase, or steal is a permanent addition to your characters, instead of replacing items you upgrade what you have into a better version of it so you won’t have buyers regret if you find a better one a short while later. Each character has 3 equipment slots with each of them having 8 upgrades in total, you have 192 upgrades to find all over the world.

    With its compelling storyline, the ensemble cast of memorable characters, and solid worldbuilding, Rise of the Third Power offers longtime JRPG fans a taste of why they fell in love with the genre in the first place. It also allows you to pet a plethora of pooches and pussycats too! Unfortunately, the poorly chosen font, slow-paced battles, lack of fast travel through previously explored areas, and awkward attempts at comic relief bring the game down. However, f you can look past Rise of the Third Power‘s flaws, you will find a robust JRPG experience.
