Ready or Not is a tactical first-person shooter that attempts to emulate the modern-day situations SWAT teams are forced to tangle with every day, confront and defuse all kinds of situations. VOID Interactive the games developers have put a lot of thought and effort to make the game as realistic as possible, by consulting with police teams globally to create a definite rule of engagement and a scoring system that are both realistic and challenging. Some more features that reflect the ethos of realism first are the models of ballistic penetration, ricochet, Kevlar, plate dynamics, projectile momentum, and expansion. Rushing in without a plan will only get you killed in this tactical FPS.
Ready or Not is an excellent tactical shooter that really immerses you into the role of a heavily-armed law enforcer, with all the split-second life-or-death decisions that entails. There are some annoying niggles in the single-player campaign and a few conspicuously missing features so there’s room for improvement, though it’s overall fun. It’s definitely a slower-paced shooter that requires a lot of patience for success, but if you’re willing to put in the effort to be a perfectionist policeman, Ready or Not will be right up your precinct.
If, like me, you’ve been thirsting for more SWAT, it’s really time to get this and with tactics, strategy and patience set off on Los Sueño’s worst criminals.
Ready or Not might feel at odds with itself a little from time to time, but it’s still a solid if unspectacular squad shooter.
