Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is an upcoming action-packed game that is set to take the gaming world by storm. Developed by Team Reptile, the game is a spiritual successor to the classic Jet Set Radio franchise. The game features a vibrant and colorful world that is inspired by the 90s street culture, and it is set in a futuristic city where players get to grind, jump, and spray paint their way to victory.
The game’s soundtrack is a mix of electronic, hip-hop, and funk music, which perfectly captures the essence of the game’s vibrant world. With its fast-paced gameplay, stylish visuals, and unique premise, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a game that is sure to appeal to gamers of all ages and backgrounds. So get ready to grab your spray cans and hit the streets in this exciting and dynamic game!
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk offers a unique videogame experience in terms of both art design and gameplay. You take control of a crew whose aim is to dominate the city by defying rival clans and the police, launching graffiti challenges in 5 areas of the city, while including elements of urban dance and scoring events on rollerblades, skateboards, bmx bikes… all with a unique, colorful, “street wear” and very arcade-like art design. The game is original in both gameplay and visual identity, and original in a good way. It’s rather unusual, and makes you want to put on your Lacoste tracksuit, your pair of Nike Airs and the backwards cap!
A colorful world, tons of graffiti and funk music to set the mood – that’s what creates Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Your main objective in the game is to take control of the city by inviting new members to your team, beating your rivals and gaining a reputation.
With its remarkable style, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk offers fun and dynamic gameplay. You take on the role of a graffiti writer whose head has been replaced by an AI. Now he embarks on a journey to discover who is responsible and why. The plot may seem a little bizarre, but it’s well up to the game’s atmosphere.
Team Reptile is an indie studio of developers from Netherlands, which has found some success with their biggest title in Lethal League and its sequel Lethal League Blaze, a 2d fighter game that heavily resemble a very funky style similar to Jet Set Radio, along with a great soundtrack to boot.
the team never shied away from their love for Jet Set Radio ad its sequel, so it was inevitable that someday they would release a title as a homage to it while offering a new experience. This is how Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, soon to be released on the 18th August came to be.
The story revolves around Red, a graffiti writer in the futuristic city of New Amsterdam, who find himself in a pinch. In fact he lost his head, literally, and it was replaced by an AI robohead. In his predicament he receive instructions from a mysterious person telling him to challenge the 5 leaders, who control the city, and beat them at their game in order to get back his head. Thus he’ll join the Bomb Rush Crew to uncover the true and find what has been stolen from him.
Red will find new allies along the story as well as face rivals. Gameplay is very similar to Jet Set Radio, and we’ll have Inline Skates, Skateboards and BMXs to cross the city at high speed, speed which is further increased the more combo and acrobatics maneuver we’ll connect.
A key element is the graffiti, in order to face the leaders of each graffiti gang, we’ll need to replace the gangs graffiti, scattered around the map, with our own, also unlocking new variety of designs as they also works as “collectibles”, not to mention a few hidden areas. Once the gang of the area is aware of our doings they’ll challenge us in a timed trial in which we’ll must score higher than them in order to win.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk thus incarnate what made Jet Set Radio awesome, with catchy song, unique style and a fun gameplay with high speed exploration of the map and a very cool story to boot. Not to mention the participation of none other than JSR composer Hideki Naganuma! As far as price goes, nothing concrete for PC but if the japanese yen price of the Switch release, it should be around 49€, hopefully 39€ . Then again it should also come down in price soon thanks to the dev, at least usually, wide availability on various stores.
In the game Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, you’ll join the vibrant Bomb Rush Crew as they engage in fierce street battles against other colorful gangs, all vying for control over the city. However, these gangs aren’t your typical gun-toting groups (although there might be some of that), but rather artists armed with spray cans, using the power of art to claim territory. Leave your mark by graffitiing the city and tagging your spots. The plot thickens when a newcomer named Red, who happens to have an AI robohead instead of a human one after a mysterious beheading, joins the crew. Expect the ever-present police force, growing more formidable, to play a significant role in the unfolding conspiracy.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is developed by Team Reptile, known for their gravity-defying battles in Lethal League. Notably, the game features the return of Hideki Naganuma, one of Jet Set Radio’s beloved composers, who once again delivers his signature blend of jazz, hip-hop, and funk fusion. Just like the unforgettable tunes of Jet Set Radio, Naganuma’s new music promises to leave a lasting impression. Additionally, there’s a touch of UK garage in the mix, adding to the game’s rebellious and energetic vibes.
