    Bring vibrant colors back to a world engulfed in darkness, and immerse yourself in Europa’s story as you go on a journey with Apino her childhood friend.

     
    • A Curse of the Shadows: One fateful night of great sorrow, ancient magic forever changes a child’s destiny. Along with it everything mankind knew changed, as well. For 9 years, the world has been enveloped by misery and sorrow, depriving living creatures and objects alike of their color, happiness, and hope. Take the role of Europa and find the source of darkness, and restore the colors of the lands before all is lost.
    • A Ghostly Companion: Europe won’t be journeying alone as she will be accompanied by Apino, an adorable magical bear with the ability to heal and to cleanse corruption. Apino can also hurl energy projectiles, shield Europa from ranged attacks, and open locked doors.
    • Elemental Vessel: Augment your fighting abilities by mastering the elements of earth, water, fire, and lightning. Use the elements to surprise your enemies as you perform powerful combos, and change armor on the fly. Travel the map dynamically by gliding through the air, swimming against waterfalls, and traversing underground tunnels to discover hidden locations and their secrets.
    • Heal with Music: The Soul of the game is music. It is the binding thread of the gameplay and the story! Come across quaint musicians that will aid you in your journey. With Michiru Yamane and Norihiko Hibino appearing as NPCs in the game, you can enjoy musical pieces attuned to 432hz the frequency used in what’s known as “healing music”. However, be wary of hidden bosses who prowl in the dark wielding music as a means to harm.

    9 Years of Shadows is a metroidvania with action combat, platforming and exploration. Players will take the role of Europa and try to stop the corruption that plagues the world armed with an halberd and accompanied by a floating bear with magical abilities. Levels have different elements and puzzles to complete and a boss at the end. What appealed to me most on this game was the visual style and the amazing soundtrack composed by renowned artists.
