Resident Evil Requiem Won’t Suffer From Performance Issues on PC, Promises Capcom

Following recent backlash and criticism over the PC performance of its Monster Hunter Wilds launch, Capcom has reassured fans that the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem will not sudder the same fate.

Resident Evil Requiem Won’t Suffer From Performance Issues on PC, Promises Capcom

Resident Evil Requiem is due to launch on PC, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 27, 2026, and the company has spoken up about its recent PC port failures.

Specifically, Capcom was asked during its latest financial results Q&A how it is going to avoid a repeat of the Monster Hunter Wilds launch problems. The company stated it is developing the RE title to “provide a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of PC specifications.”

The Shadow of Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds was a massive disappointment on PC, facing heavy criticism for its technical issues, including bugs, crashes, stuttering, and frame rate drops. As a result, its Steam rating has dropped to “Mixed,” with recent ratings falling further to “Mostly Negative” nine months after its release.

Capcom is clearly looking to manage expectations while preempting negative sentiment from Monster Hunter Wilds by reassuring fans it has learned lessons and is developing Resident Evil Requiem with performance in mind.

The RE Engine’s Core Strength: Why Requiem Will Be Different

While it is built on the same engine as Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom’s in-house RE Engine, the company has told investors and fans that Resident Evil Requiem differs in terms of “gameplay, system architecture, and network features.”

The RE Engine has historically delivered excellent performance in titles like Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil Village, proving its capability of handling the franchise’s intense atmosphere, stunning visuals, and linear environments, unlike the sprawling, open-world of Monster Hunter.

Highly Scalable for Console and PC

Capcom is confident it can launch the game across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC without issue, saying it doesn’t “anticipate similar risks” experienced in Monster Hunter Wilds, and that Requiem is “being made in a kind of highly scalable way” for console and high-end PCs.

While Capcom reassured fans that the game will launch without technical issues, the PC community will be waiting for Resident Evil Requiem’s release on February 27, 2026, to decide for themselves.

Capcom’s Promise: Will Requiem Deliver?

Resident Evil Requiem is launching in February 2026, and developer Capcom is promising a smoother gameplay experience than Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, which continues to suffer from technical issues months after launch.
