Cronos: The New Dawn - Release Date, Nintendo Switch 2 Confirmation, and Story Deep Dive!

Cronos: The New Dawn is the new third-person horror adventure from Bloober Team. The Polish development team is behind numerous horror games and has seen huge success in recent years. Not just with titles like the Layers of Fear series, but also Blair Witch and Observer. Not to mention the famous Silent Hill 2 remake.

With a new self-published game that takes us on a time-traveling journey to what’s left of 1980s Poland. Playing as a Traveler from the Collective organization, we’ll have to extract the Essences of certain individuals to change the future from the cataclysm known as The Change. Cronos: The New Dawn: Confirmed Release Date and Platforms

With Cronos: The New Dawn scheduled for release in Fall 2025, the Bloober team revealed some details in late July. On July 31st, they confirmed the release date for their new time-themed third-person horror adventure. It will be available from September 5, 2025, and pre-orders are now open.

The reveal was accompanied by a new trailer unveiling new details. In it, we meet another Traveler for the first time, as well as some of the various characters and dangers we’ll encounter during the adventure. They also confirmed the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Cronos: The New Dawn – New Details from the Story Deep Dive

About a week after the release date reveal, Bloober also dropped a new Deep Dive on the game’s Story. In a 6-minute video, lead writer Grzegorz Like and producer Klaudia Sewera explain more about the game world. Among the new details revealed are:

  • The world in a nutshell: We are taken to the Poland of 1980 in an alternate universe. There, a disease known as The Change has struck humanity, bringing it to an end. The Travelers go back in time to extract the essence of certain individuals to change the future.
  • The Warden: The name and role of the Traveler from the latest trailer. Their important role is not only to manage the other Travelers’ equipment but also to keep the Central Hub operational. This character has a different view of humanity and the Collective’s mission.
  • Details on Extraction: The main objective of the game will be to retrieve the Essence of certain characters. The team reveals this practice is certainly very painful, as it effectively extracts people’s souls. This will have an impact not only on the story but also on the gameplay with specific perks.

We’ll meet numerous characters, with stories that will intertwine with each other and are often linked to our extraction targets. Not to mention the strong inspiration that the city of Nowa Huta had on the game. Architecturally, but also from the historical impact of a city born in the post-World War II era.

In Conclusion
