Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition launches on Switch 2 with 4K, 60FPS support, an upgrade path, physical release, and returning NSO icons.

February just delivered another reason to upgrade to Nintendo’s latest console. In a surprise shadow drop, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition has officially launched on Nintendo Switch 2 tagging along 60fps and 4k resolution, alongside the return of the game’s Nintendo Switch Online icons.

Nintendo Brings Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition to Switch 2

Xenoblade fans got a nice surprise as Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition just landed on Nintendo Switch 2. It was initially released on Wii U in 2015, then made its way to Nintendo Switch in 2025. Yep, ten long years.

It was around the same time Switch 2 was going to be released so many fans were puzzled as to why the game launched only on the older gen. But now it makes sense as it was still being developed and just needed time. Good thing we won’t have to wait another 10 for this jump.

With this release, the game can now run at 60FPS and supports 4k resolution. An upgrade path is available for Switch owners at £5.

Apart from the game’s digital release which comes in at 14.8GB, Nintendo also confirmed that Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition Switch 2 version will also get a physical copy. This will launch on April 16, 2026.

As if all this news isn’t enough to celebrate the game’s milestone, Nintendo is also bringing back Xenoblade’s NSO icons. It comes in 4 waves over the course of four weeks, with the first one already live.
