Wolfenstein 3 Is In Development at MachineGames According to Multiple Sources

Wolfenstein 3 may finally be happening as new reports claim MachineGames is developing the long-awaited sequel. Here’s what we know so far.

Wolfenstein 3 has been on the wishlist of fans for so long that it almost feels warranted at this point. The rumor of a third mainline entry has been floating around since 2023 but it wasn’t until last year that fans truly began to feel like they weren’t waiting for nothing. Now, as 2026 begins, more signs suggest that an official announcement could be on the horizon.

Wolfenstein 3 is Reportedly in Development

Wolfenstein 3 rumors have been swirling for years not just because fans desperately want it and are collectively manifesting its existence but because there’s actually something tangible to hold on to.

Last year, Glitched reported on comments from MachineGames, the studio behind the modern Wolfenstein series, reaffirming that they have always envisioned it as a trilogy. No, Youngblood isn’t part of that and The Old Order

“we have always seen this as a trilogy. So that journey for BJ – even during those first weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order – we still had the plan for at least that character. What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one. I think that’s important to say because, at least I hope, that we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”

Of course, having a vision doesn’t always translate into an actual product especially in today’s unpredictability in the industry. Projects get canceled, priorities shift, and studios move on. Well, some even get shutdown.

However, that uncertainty started to fade with a more recent report from Windows Central’s Jez Corden. According to Corden, he’s heard that MachineGames has Wolfenstein 3 “on the cards,” and that it may align with the upcoming Amazon TV series inspired by the franchise. Add to that the fact that 2026 marks Bethesda’s 40th anniversary, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wolfenstein 3 is one of the titles they’ve been quietly saving for a big reveal.

Jez Corden has a strong track record when it comes to leaks and insider information, so this alone gives fans plenty of reason to be optimistic. And then Kotaku corroborated the information through its own sources, though they didn’t go into details.

Apparently, Wolfenstein 3 is expected to be a direct sequel to The New Colossus which many fans are really excited for. Because let’s face it, Youngblood was a total fiasco.

But more than the narrative, fans also want to go back to earlier gameplay style. The New Colossus is already a good enough direction from Youngblood but longtime fans even suggest making it more like The New Order. I think everyone can still remember those bullet sponge enemies.

Anyway, only time will tell if this comes to fruition as neither Bethesda nor MachineGames has formally announced it yet.
