DOOM is finally out!
In celebration of DOOM’s day (pun intended :D), Bethesda released a video featuring a talented Australian artist who carved the iconic Revenant from DOOM using his trusted chainsaw.
Rob Bast, the chainsaw artist behind the masterpiece, created the sculpture using a variety of chainsaws. Using a block of cypress wood, the 8-foot-tall Revenant sculpture was finished in a total of 150 hours. As you will see in the video, the sculpture was intricately carved down to the tiniest detail.
As mentioned in the website VG247.com, Bethesda said that the cypress wood used in creating the sculpture is recyclable, and that the chainsaw has a crucial part in the game.
The Revenant sculpture is currently in display at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia. Visitors will be able to see the exhibit until May 24, 2016. DOOM is now available on PC via Steam, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.“The chainsaw is a key part of the DOOM Marine’s arsenal and using his own saws, Rob has painstakingly recreated one of DOOM’s most fearsome foes in the form of an incredibly detailed sculpture made entirely from recycled sustainable cypress wood.” – Bethesda
