There’s a specific kind of stress that comes with managing a sprawling empire. You’re balancing the cultural traditions of Celtic marshes with the rigid demands of Roman bureaucracy, and suddenly your production chain collapses.
It’s that glorious, hair-pulling city-builder tension that keeps you up until 3 AM fixing trade routes. If you haven’t experienced the brilliant balancing act of Anno 117: Pax Romana yet, you’re in luck. Ubisoft is throwing the gates wide open for a free weekend starting February 26.
Building Rome Without Spending a Denarius
The free trial runs from February 26 at 5 PM CET through March 2 across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. PC players can grab it via Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, or GeForce Now. If you’re on Xbox, keep in mind your trial ends a bit earlier on Monday morning at 8 AM CET.
It’s the perfect window to figure out if you prefer ruling through quiet diplomacy or throwing your military weight around. Plus, if you link your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts, watching any Anno 117 stream with drops enabled gets you some exclusive logos to slap on your profile.
To all future Governors – a Free Weekend approaches! Play #Anno117PaxRomana for free from 26 February to 2 March on Ubisoft Connect, Epic, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce Now. For more info, check out our latest blog: https://t.co/pMiTjOoJGS pic.twitter.com/VQF9oXPeby

Chariots, Volcanos, and What’s Next
Alongside the free weekend, the developers dropped a massive teaser for the Year 1 Pass content. We’re looking at serious environmental hazards coming to the game, including volcanic eruptions and river floods.
You’ll also get to build the massive Hippodrome for chariot racing and gambling. It sounds like an incredibly easy way to keep your restless citizens distracted from their daily toils.
The fan-favorite Romanization feature from previous content is also making a comeback, bringing entirely new military units and production chains to manage.

Paving the Way with the Marvellous Mosaic Pack
If you already own the game, there’s a good reason to boot it up today. Patch 1.4 just landed alongside the new Marvellous Mosaic cosmetic pack.
For about €7, you get access to incredibly detailed tesserae patterns, from lavish courtyard mosaics to grassy pavements perfect for your overgrown Albion settlements.
The pack even includes pink shades for the Bathhouse and two entirely new wall systems to separate your elite citizens from the rest of the population. The developers specifically designed the new ground plates to reflect light differently depending on your camera angle, adding a subtle sparkle to your carefully planned plazas.
All Roads Lead to Your Settlement
Whether you’re curious about the city-builder hype or just looking to add some Celtic charm to your existing Roman walls, this weekend is packed with content. Managing an ancient economy is surprisingly relaxing right up until the exact moment it isn’t.
Get your supply lines sorted early, and don’t ignore your citizens when they start complaining about the bathhouses.
