These EA Games Are Shutting Down This Month

EA Games May 2024 Shutdown

EA is at it again with the server shutdown this month. And much like March this year, May is yet again with a big chunk of games getting massacred.

Couple of months ago, seven games with a majority of F1 titles were delisted and their servers shut down. Then just last month, two (once) highly played games, Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Madden NFL 20, followed suit with their servers no longer live. While the latter may still be accessible offline, the Kim K free-to-play mobile game is now completely unplayable.

And now for the third consecutive month, big titles like Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth and F1 Mobile Racing will see the same fate. They are joined by EA Sports MLB Tap Sport Baseball 2023 and MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022. Happening on May 24, these four games will cease to exist online and will be delisted for future purchases.

Here is the schedule of all server shutdowns confirmed for 2024 as of writing:

  • March 21

    • F1 2012
    • F1 2013
    • F1 2014
    • F1 Race Stars
    • Micromachines World Series
    • Rocket Arena
  • April 8 – Kim Kardashian Hollywood
  • April 15 – Madden NFL 20
  • May 24
    • EA Sports MLB Tap Sport Baseball 2023
    • F1 Mobile Racing
    • Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth
    • MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022
  • July 24 – Super Mega Baseball 2
  • September 16 – NHL 20

While it is always sad to see games retire, EA deems it necessary so resources can be channeled to make better newer games. And as per their official statement regarding the matter, games that fall to “typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players” makes it no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scene works.

Most games will still be accessible offline but access to most in-game purchases and progressions will no longer be possible.
