Stray, the cyberpunk adventure by BlueTwelve Studio, releases July 19, and the developers have introduced us to the real-world cats that inspired the game.

THE CATS OF STRAY

Stray is about a cat recently separated from its family and lost in a neon-lit city at war with itself.

To escape the city, you will explore your surroundings, interact with the environment, solve puzzles, and learn to see the world through the eyes of a curious cat.

Developers BlueTwelve Studio has recently published a post on the official PlayStation blog revealing the real-world cats that helped to inspire the story of Stray.

Murtaugh, Oscar, and Jun helped to keep the development team focused by ensuring they remained on task throughout the project but also took time to eat treats and play.

Murtaugh was the biggest inspiration for the protagonist of Stray, and although appearances differ, Stray could not have been completed without Murtaugh’s dedication.

To get the movements right when animating, the team used Oscar the Sphynx to help perfect the precise jumping and running seen in Stray.

Lastly, Jun acted as “executive chief general president commander director officer at the studio,” which put him in charge of the entire development team.
