Square Enix opened up their show with a teaser for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was definitely fitting given that majority of the attendees were probably there for this one game. With that, the crowd was definitely hyped up and ready for the show.

But, Final Fantasy 7 Remake wasn’t the only game Square Enix brought with them. And so, here’s a rundown of what the big publisher had to show at E3 2019:

FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE

We got two great bits from Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s time on the stage: an extensive gameplay demo and a release window. The Remake will feature a hybrid combat system where players can dish out normal attacks in real-time and enter special commands when their ATB gauges fill up. Players will also be able to switch between characters easily while in combat. You can check out the full gameplay demo plus the release date trailer below:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set to launch on March 3rd, 2020 on PlayStation 4. Square Enix said the game will “debut first” on the PS4, so other platforms might be a possibility.

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES REMASTERED

Square Enix has finally given a release window for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered. The remaster will not only feature updated visuals and voice acting, but it will also include brand new content as well. The remaster will also allow up to four players to play together in multiplayer both locally or online. You can check out the game’s E3 trailer below:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will launch this winter for PS4, Switch, iOS and Android.

DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2

A new story and gameplay trailer was released for the upcoming Dragon Quest voxel-based crafting and adventure sequel, Dragon Quest Builders 2. It’s pretty lengthy and goes over a lot of what players will be doing in the game. Have a gander below:

Dragon Quest Builders 2 launches on July 12th for PlayStation 4. A free demo drops on the PlayStation Store on June 27th.

DRAGON QUEST 11 ECHOES OF AN ELUSIVE AGE S DEFINITIVE EDITION

Dragon Quest 11 will finally be coming to the Switch and it will allow players to experience the epic adventure in both modern 3D and classical 16-bit styles. You can see this in action in the new trailer below:

KINGDOM HEARTS 3 RE:MIND

Square Enix gave us another look at the first DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3 called Re:Mind. The add-on will include Roxas, Aqua and Riku as playable characters, and a new Keyblade transformation for Sora called Oathkeeper. Here’s the trailer:

The DLC arrives this winter.

FINAL FANTASY 14 SHADOWBRINGERS

Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida took the stage to promote the game’s third expansion pack, Shadowbringers. The event also premiered the expansion’s launch trailer, which you can watch below:

Shadowbringers goes live on July 2nd.

OUTRIDERS

A new game from Polish developer People Can Fly was announced during the press conference. Studio head Sebastian Wojciechowski went up on stage to talk about the new IP and to show off a dev diary for the game where creative director Bartosz Kmita describes the game as a “dark, modern shooter filled with traditional qualities”. Here’s the announcement trailer:

Outriders will come to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in Summer 2020.

FINAL FANTASY 8 REMASTERED

After years of snubbing Final Fantasy 8, Square Enix is finally getting the game remastered. I mean, it’s not the same remake treatment that Final Fantasy 7 is getting, but it gives fans hope that the publisher has not forgotten the very divisive title. Check out the updated visuals in the trailer below:

The remaster is coming to PC, Xbox One PlayStation 4 and Switch before the year ends.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS

After tons of rumours and teases, Crystal Dynamics has finally unveiled their Avengers game. This is an original story with the studio’s version of the heroes. They also assembled an all-star cast to voice Earth’s mightiest heroes. Crystal Dynamics also revealed they plan to support the game for years and that new characters and regions will come at no extra cost. Here’s the reveal trailer:

The game will come to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Stadia on May 15th, 2020. PlayStation players will get beta access and exclusive content.

Here are some of the other games Square Enix showcased during their press conference. You can click on a game to view its trailer.

And that’s a wrap for the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Marvel’s Avengers bits were easily the most hyped moments, but there’s definitely a lot more to be excited about from this publisher.
