The Splatlands just got a whole lot messier in Splatoon 3. If you logged in today expecting the same old turf war, you’re in for a shock.
Nintendo didn’t just tweak some numbers. They dropped Update 11.0.0, and it feels like a soft reboot of the combat rhythm we’ve been used to for years.
The Aggression Meta is Here
You know that feeling when you’re in the zone, landing splat after splat? The game finally recognizes that momentum.
The headline feature is the Flow Aura, and it changes the psychological landscape of the match. It’s not just about painting the floor anymore. When you see an enemy glowing with that burst of ink, you know they are dangerous, fast, and coming for you. It adds a layer of tension that wasn’t there before.
For the longest time, guessing an opponent’s health was a gamble. You’d rush in thinking they were one hit away, only to get splatted. Now, with visible health bars, those split-second decisions feel much more calculated. It removes the guesswork and lets you focus on movement and aim.

Update 11.0.0: The Details
If you’ve been on the fence about jumping back into Splatoon 3, now is the perfect time. The game is more accessible thanks to the visual updates.
The skill ceiling just went up for veterans. Since the meta is shifting this hard, everyone is relearning the ropes together.
Here is the breakdown of what is shaking up the game:
-
Flow Aura (Trance Ittica): Chain multiple splats quickly to enter a “flow state.” You get boosts to run speed, swim speed, and ink resistance for 30 seconds.
-
Health Bars: When you hit an enemy, a bar shows their remaining health. It hides if they swim or take cover. You can see teammate health too.
-
Hitbox Overhaul: Swimming is now safer with a smaller hitbox. To counter this, short-range weapons now have larger projectile hitboxes.
-
Stealth Jump Nerf: If you use Stealth Jump, your flight time is now longer depending on the distance. No more instant teleports.

In Ver. 11.0.0 if you have the Stealth Jump gear ability equipped and Super Jump to a far away location, your flight time will take longer.
Additionally, weapon balance updates will be included.

Verdict: Is the New Meta Fun?
Absolutely. The Flow Aura encourages you to take risks rather than just camping in your ink. The health bars make solo-queue coordination much better since you know exactly who needs help in a fight. It feels faster and more competitive.
Are you going to embrace the aggression and chase that Flow state, or are you changing your loadout to counter it?
