Sea of Stars (SoS) is the turn-based RPG from the indie team Sabotage Studio. A Canadian studio founded in 2016, debuting in 2018 with the solid side-scroller The Messenger. They first revealed SoS in March 2020 with a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign was successful, fully funded in just one day, leading to a 2022 demo release.
But the game’s release was delayed to 2023. Now, this turn-based RPG inspired by the great classics has finally launched on August 29, 2023, across major platforms. Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker DLC – Release Date Announced
Announced at the end of August 2024, the Sabotage Studio team is finally ready to launch Throes of the Watchmaker. The highly anticipated free DLC for Sea of Stars, over a year after the game’s launch. This will be the second free update, following Dawn of Equinox released on November 21, 2024.
Throes of the Watchmaker will be available on all platforms starting May 20, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer showing us what awaits the duo of Valere and Zale in the miniature world of Horloge.
Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker – What the Free DLC Offers
Throes of the Watchmaker is the highly anticipated free DLC for SoS that takes us to the world of Horloge. A miniature clockwork world cursed by the Puppeteer and his minions. The new adventure for the two Solstice Warriors offers:
- New Area: A new area to explore in Horloge. With plenty of new locations, zones, and enemies to face. Expect a post-game campaign of about 8 hours of content.
- New Classes: Valere and Zale will gain access to their respective Acrobat and Juggler classes. Two circus-themed classes with new attacks, damage types, skills, and combos!
- New Companion: The robot engineer Arty will join the party, bringing powerful laser attacks. Playable also in Couch Co-op with up to 3 players.
All of this is accompanied by a new soundtrack by Eric W. Brown, in collaboration with Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger), who returns as a guest composer. The team also held a special live stream on April 30, 2025, offering a sneak peek of the new DLC.
