Fate/EXTRA Record has been delayed again, and Bandai Namco is no longer publishing the remake. The game currently has no new release window.
A lot of fans have been keeping an eye on Fate/EXTRA Record, the remake of the PSP classic Fate/EXTRA, as it’s supposed to release Spring 2026. And since we’re already there, a release date announcement is highly anticipated. Unfortunately, all that excitement has to be bottled up again as the game is officially delayed. The worst part, it currently has no release window and no publisher.
Fate/EXTRA Record Delayed: No Release Window, No Publisher
TYPE-MOON has announced that Fate/EXTRA Record, the upcoming remake of Fate/EXTRA, is delayed once again. The game was initially expected to release last year before being moved to Spring 2026. Now, the project has been pushed back with no new release window in place.
Both TYPE-MOON (Notes Co. Ltd) and Bandai Namco Entertainment have also mutually agreed to go their separate ways regarding the project. According to the official statement, the parties have “decided to reassess the project, including making changes to the development structure. Consequently, we have decided to change the distributor going forward.” It is a vague explanation, but the outcome is clear. Bandai Namco will no longer publish the game.

This does not mean the game is cancelled though. TYPE-MOON reassured fans that development is still underway.
Since the announcement, fans have started sharing their own theories about what might have happened behind the scenes. Some think the game was still far from the Spring 2026 target and so Bandai opted out. Others think there may have been disagreements during development, particularly censorship. Nothing official has clarified the situation further.
Since pre-orders had already gone live prior to this update, both Bandai Namco and TYPE-MOON confirmed that full refunds will be issued for existing purchases.
For now, Fate/EXTRA Record is still planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. A new release date and a new publisher will be shared sometime in the future. Let’s hope.
