Hytale, the so-called Minecraft Killer, is finally about to make its long-awaited debut. The sandbox RPG enters PC early access tomorrow, January 13, marking a major moment not just for fans but for Hypixel Studios itself. The game’s journey has been anything but straightforward including a period where it was effectively canceled. Now it’s back and the studio is bracing for what could be a massive launch.

Hytale was originally announced to huge interest, quickly standing out for its mix of sandbox freedom and structured RPG systems. Early footage showed procedurally generated worlds layered with handcrafted content, proper combat mechanics, and tools that looked more advanced than what players were used to from similar games. So then expectations grew quickly but so did the pressure.
Eventually, development issues put Hytale in a spot where it was basically canceled. It only got back on track after Hypixel Studios bought the project back from Riot so the team could rework it and move toward this early access launch. This part probably added to the hype, to be honest.
According to Hypixel Studios, the studio is expecting more than one million players to join on launch day. That kind of turnout brings its own challenges, so the team has already taken steps to reduce stress on release day.
Players can already download the Hytale launcher and log in ahead of time. Once logged in, a message appears asking players to return on January 13 to download the game when it officially unlocks. So it’s not an early early access but rather one less step for players and it gives the developers a clearer picture on how to adjust accordingly.
Hytale’s early access release times on PC are set for January 13 at 3pm GMT / 4pm CET / 10am ET / 7am PT. As for consoles, while the game is also announced to reach Playstation, Xbox, and Switch, it will be at a later date.

Hytale is a sandbox RPG built around exploration, combat, and creativity. Players move through dynamic worlds made up of different zones, biomes, and dungeons. The game supports both solo play and multiplayer, with a strong emphasis on coop experiences. But what the community is most excited about though is modding.
